New tennis rules from Boxing Day

Dear FTC member
As you will know, all of Sussex has now been placed into Tier 4 and this affects tennis at Fishbourne Tennis Club from Boxing Day.

Government and LTA rules say that under Tier 4 we can still play but ONLY SINGLES with someone from another household.
Doubles can only be played with players from the SAME HOUSEHOLD (or same bubble).
One-to-one coaching can continue but matches, competitions and group coaching are not allowed. No one playing at FTC must have travelled to the club from outside the Tier 4 area. Spectators are not permitted apart from one parent to supervise juniors.

Fishbourne Tennis Club is therefore remaining open to members for tennis subject to these tougher new rules, and also conditional on all the familiar social distancing and the latest travel regulations being followed.

It is clear we all have to be more vigilant and careful than ever before.

But it could be worse!  Could be complete shutdown like during lockdown. It is good news that families can have a hit together, and with singles only for the rest of us we’ll soon be able to work off the Christmas excesses!

Best wishes for a safe and merry Christmas from your tennis club committee
