FTC Championships dominate debate at AGM

The format of this year’s FTC Championships sparked plenty of interest among members in a packed hall at the Fishbourne Centre for the club’s AGM on May 15.

Some welcomed the change that allows doubles partners to enter as pairs (in addition to a draw for partners as usual), others felt it would undermine the friendliness of the tournament. But in the end all resolved to give it a go!

In order to allow more time for as many members as possible to enter there 2015 Championships, the FTC committee decided to extend the entry deadline – all entries must now be in by Sunday 3 May.

To enter, members should write their names on the board in the clubhouse and complete an entry form (available in the clubhouse, emailed to all members and also available to download here) and post it in the clubhouse safe along with a cheque for the entry fees (just £3 per adult per competition, juniors free).

The Championships this year are being held in the memory of Ronnie Ray.

The important dates are:

3 May: deadline for entries

10 May: draw for partners and order of first round published

Mid June: all first-round games to be completed

Mid July: all quarter-finals completed

End of August: semi-finals completed

5 September (or 6 Sept if wet): Finals Day, including finals of the Plate Competition.
