The Fishbourne Tennis Club rounders team, New Balls Please, came home second – but undefeated – in a fun intersports competition on the Fishbourne playing fields on Friday 21 June.

Tennis players swapped rackets for bats as a dozen members and their friends and family took on five other teams in the inaugural contest, cheered on from the sidelines by more FTC members enjoying brilliant sunshine and a barbecue.

Spectacular hitting and catching by Rachel and friend Mike, Chris, Darren, Simon and the entire Upton-Brown family were among the stand out performances.

Despite not being beaten by any of the other teams, one draw meant that, in the end, New Balls Please was just pipped by Dennis the Menace for overall honours.

It mattered not: everyone had a cracking time and we’d do it again. Thanks to Kevin at the FPFA for organising – and cooking.
