Gorgeous weather, a full turn-out of tennis players and marvellous hospitality from our hosts guaranteed a great fun afternoon.

With many tennis players rolling (chucking? bouncing?) a wood for the first time, there were inevitably some blips, but apparently no lasting damage to the green was done. Some FTC members were in fact declared ‘naturals’ and overall the results after 16 ends were surprisingly close, though the bowls club was gracious enough to give us a six-point head start.

After the match the bowls club hosted us to tea and home-made cakes in their splendid clubhouse.

Thanking them for their warm hospitality and Gay for organising things, FTC chairman David Lord said we all looked forward to the return match. On our side of the fence…
