It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Jim Aman. “American Jim” (actually Canadian) contributed a huge amount to the club over several years, all achieved in unfailingly modest fashion.

Jim was a favourite with everyone at club sessions which he attended several times a week until he suffered a sudden illness a couple of years ago, followed by his subsequent move to be nearer his family in Gloucestershire.

Often outspoken, quick witted with a dry sense of humour, Jim was always full of ideas and ways to achieve them, which invariably he just got on and did without any fuss. His legacy at FTC lives on in the shed he built from scratch, the practice hitting wall, the benches and many other repairs and improvements. Often the first members knew something needed doing was when Jim had already done it.

On behalf of all FTC members, the club has sent a card with our condolences to his wife, Lynn. The committee has agreed the club should put up a plaque to Jim on the shed he built for the club.
