…and Fishbourne Tennis Club members turned out in force for the annual Festive Dress day. The theme? Decidedly Santa Claus (count the number of red outfits and white beards…) but with a very imaginative and topical twist from Sheila in the form of a British Davis Cup champion, complete with famous trophy.
Around 40 members attended, and everyone wanted to play so a best-of-seven-games format with sudden death on deuce was adopted so no one missed out. The colourful outfits did little for the standard of play but after a glass or two of David Lord’s special brew (mulled wine) no one really cared.
A lavish spread laid on by the club for all members followed the tennis, for which thanks go to Bryan and Val and also, fresh from her recent triumph at the Christmas Party, Jean. Prizes for best costumes went to Trevor and Sue Lord.
Happy Christmas everyone!
And now, the embarrassing pictures…
