After a Covid-19 enforced hiatus of five months, mix-in club sessions returned to Fishbourne Tennis Club on Saturday 29 August. More than 20 members attended, lured by the idea of fun mixed doubles social tennis and free ice creams. All four courts were busy all morning. First on court was Sheila Smith, 82 (pictured), enjoying her first game of tennis since March.
As is club tradition, mix-in club sessions guarantee all members will get a game, with strict first-arrived, first-on rule. There’s no need to arrange partners and no need to book in, but all players must sign in to the Covid track and trace book by the clubhouse door.
Mix-in club sessions will now be held every Saturday between 9am and 1pm when all paid-up club members are welcome to attend. Depending on how they go – and a lot rests on everyone remembering to sign in – more club sessions will follow.
