FTC marks start of summer with a barbecue

The day dawned bright and sunny for FTC’s first social event in over a year. We had a great turnout for the Saturday Social Tennis with over 30 players in attendance and the courts were buzzing from 10am. Brian brought along the new Ball Machine, just a few teething problems need ironing out, then it will be available for all to book. Trevor and Katy managed a few sets before Trevor fired up the BBQ (now showing its age!) and coaxed enough heat to cook several dozen burgers, sausages, veggie burgers etc to perfection. A great band of volunteers helped to set up socially distanced tables and chairs outside and a covid friendly serving station for food and drink.

It was great to chat to lots of new members and catch up with each other. We had a variety of scrumptious salads on offer, kindly made by Di, Pammi and Sandy, as well as delicious Pimms, beer, soft drinks and strawberries and biscuits too.

Everything was devoured, down to the last sausage, burger and potato salad. And then willing volunteers set to washing up and clearing everything, as we managed to use reusable crockery and cutlery for almost everything. A big thank you to everyone who helped out, including Trevor, Pammi, Lesley, Anita, Sandy, Liz, Sandra, Sue, Nicki, David and Nikki (who took all of the fabulous photos).

A great day was had by all.
